Kathmandu’s No 1 Cooking Experience
Our aim is for you to have a fantastic time, seeing the real Kathmandu, meeting new friends and making some delicious food. Our beautiful and welcoming staff are enthusiastic about giving you a unique experience. Enjoy an exciting rickshaw trip to the local markets of Kathmandu, where Nepalis gather their fresh ingredients daily. Back at our centrally located cooking school you’ll produce your very own Nepali feast. Along the way, our chef will give you lots of information about food production and preparation in Nepal and a special insight into Nepali life.
Classes are held twice a day at 9am and 1.30pm – 7 days a week. Each class runs for 4 hours and includes a visit to the local market and rickshaw ride back to cooking school. Each participant gets to eat their own delicious creations, so arrive hungry – there’s plenty to eat. You’ll cook 5 courses of traditional Nepali and Newari food. The cost for the class is US$35 per person, which includes everything. Each dish has a vegetarian or vegan option if you prefer, just let us know when you arrive at the class. We will do our best to cater for those with food intolerances, but give us a call to see what we can do.
Our Social Enterprise
The profit from our cooking school is used to fund social programs for our organisation, Journey Nepal, which has been operating since 2012. Our focus is on empowering women and girls and we have a special relationship with a village of 5,000 people, called Fulkharka in the remote area of Dhading. This area was particularly hard hit by the earthquakes of April 2015 and we’ve been working hard to rebuild the schools in the area. The cooking school has been set up to help us implement programs to improve the education of girls throughout Nepal who would otherwise miss out on an education.
